Code of Conduct
What connects the Riot Rocketz is primarily the love for the sport of Roller Derby and the desire for a community where people feel comfortable. Everyone who is part of our league may have different needs and ambitions, which we want to meet together. This primarily relates to the sport: With our training sessions, we aim to cater to those who prioritize fun over competition, as well as to those who wish to compete against other teams and rise through our league.
In addition to independent bouts (games) with friendly leagues, we also organize participation in the Bundesliga during a season. This includes hosting home bouts and participating in away games in other cities.
We strive to create a discrimination-free space within our league. We aim to actively shape this environment through the acceptance of everyone’s individuality and a respectful interaction with one another.

Another point that is very important to us is self-determination. We see ourselves as a grassroots democracy. Once a month, we hold a plenary meeting where we discuss current agenda items and make decisions. We strive to decide freely without hierarchies and based on the principle of consensus. Anyone who is part of the Riot Rocketz can bring agenda items to the plenary, discuss them, and vote.
Furthermore, every player should actively participate in shaping our league through working groups. These groups cover a variety of areas, such as training, officiating, public relations, bout organization, merchandise, and many others.
We are a section of the Sports Club Roter Stern Leipzig (RSL). Nevertheless, we rely on dedicated Rocketz who are active in the league and club beyond training. This commitment also extends to the national and international Derby community. Despite its growing prominence, the Derby world is still a relatively small community without large institutions behind it, and it relies on the support of everyone. We feel connected to this community and support others.
How we compete
The Riot Rocketz were founded in 2013 as the second Saxon Roller Derby club. Our two teams, “Space Invaders” and “Sun Blockers,” participate in the game operations.
The Space Invaders participate as a FLINTA* team in bouts outside of the Bundesliga and in scrimmages. The team is open to players of various skill levels and consists of individuals who want to compete outside of the Bundesliga and/or gain experience on the track.
The Sun Blockers compete as a FLINTA* team in the Roller Derby Bundesliga. In 2023, the team will be participating in the 2nd Bundesliga.
